Treignon

Treignon and Breignac were settled only a decade or so apart, the vast wealth of the former providing the funds necessary to settle the latter. Intended originally to be a frontier settlement – the first in over a century at the time – the settler’s of Treignon were fortunate to stumble across the nearby mountains. From afar they seemed nothing spectacular, but it quickly became clear that they were rich in untapped mineral wealth. This rapidly transformed Treignon from an expeditionary frontier region to a prosperous mining region. The Marquis de Laurent, financier and de facto head of the settlement, then devoted a portion of his wealth to his young nephew, an orphan he had raised as his own. The enterprising young lad set out to settle Breignac with his uncle’s blessing, and the two sister cities have been ruled by the de Laurent family ever since (in actuality if not on paper, since officially the bishops hold power in these areas as with anywhere else).
