Orcemont

Orcemont is known by many as the “City of Locks”, a nickname that can be misleading to those that know little about the city itself. The name doesn’t refer to the sorts of locks one would find on a door or safe, but instead on the highly advanced constructed waterways that call Orcemont their home.

Situated at a strange, incredibly narrow portion of land separating the rest of the Imardin mainland from a peninsula extending towards Barrier Island, Orcemont is home to a series of canals and locks used as a shortcut to bypass the peninsula quickly. Use of these locks is taxed, which in itself brings in a decent amount of income, but most of the city’s income comes from trade with the ships that pass through. Since the locks can only operate in high tide, and only one ship can pass through at a time, merchants often stop to trade while they wait their turn. Depending on the schedule they can be there for days, and they will often sell a large portion of the wares that were originally intended to go to Ellisport.
