Tristan takes a moment, looking at the pile of activated guns around him. "Yeah, I've still got it." He says, smirking to himself. Finally he grabs the combat shotgun, and attempts to fix it.

As you continue to work, you hear the sound of a big round of applause come from the stage once more. Checking the time, you see it is now four minutes to midnight. Thankfully though, all eyes have been fixed on Vibol below, with no one walking in on you ransacking the exhibit.

Seeing the others manage to break into the cases with more ease, and starting to repair and load the weapons makes John feel confident about the group, rushed and incompetent at the same time.
"There, fixed us some armour." John says as the third case reveals it's contents.

You see that the case identifies its contents as the belongings of one Captain Ankarl Ibsen and date back to 3062. Ibsen commanded a famous surface ship in the Escriosian Unification wars, in the navy of the nation state than would eventually succeed in subjugating the entire planet and become the Escriosian Diktat. Purely a ceremonial weapon, the blade is adorned with intricate etchings while the handle has a gold relief.

Antoine grabs a few of the backpacks, scrambling to get them loaded in a quick manner. "Grab whatever you fancy and find a mag. I'll work on packing up the rest," he suggests.

Seeing the clock drawing closer to midnight, Sven pushes it into overtime with the last two cases. Might as well, right? Free for the taking. "Couple more here," he says, working quickly to put on one of the combat uniforms and snagging the prepped submachine gun.

Tristan turns the revolver's safety on and tucks it in the back of his pants. He grabs one of the semi-auto pistols, clicks on the safety, and tosses it to Em. Then, he grabs the sniper rifle and gives it one last look-over, then grabs a case of ammunition. "I think we'll find it's about time. Ready to move?" He asks. The sudden surge of confidence he has washing over him has temporarily displaced the dread in his stomach.

I recommend the 3 backpacks (1 John brought from security room, 2 from cases) to go to Em, Sven, and Jug, the highest carrying capacity people. My suggestion is to stuff your Stowed inventory full of Rifles, Mags, ammo, and most importantly the Heavy Machine Gun + cans of ammo.

With frantic hands, Antoine jams full magazines into several rifles from the various cases, neatly packing them into one of the military packs. He finds a pistol, loading it, before sliding it into his pocket. Hope I don't need this unless to scare someone off.

With time running short, Sven follows Antoine's lead and works toward shoving what he can into his backpack. Are we really about to clean out this whole place? Someone's definitely getting fired after this. Won't be the security guys, at least.

With the cases opened, Jug moves to don the Combat Field Uniform, hooking it onto their chassis.

Once geared up, they open a panel on their frame and unfold a backpack and set it aside as they take the LMG and load it, stowing the additional cans in their bag. After that, they take a Combat shotgun and start loading it with shells, stowing the excess shells and slugs in an easily accessible compartment.

With their arms and armor taken care of, they set about finding the rest of the gear, setting the excess weapons and ammunition carefully in their bag.

While the others empty the rest of the cases, Antoine takes out the thin packet he had brought in his pocket containing the Tsunami from Shrimp. Well, been a while since I did any shit like this, he considers, eyeing it closely. At least it'll help with the tremble.

"Em, you're up," Antoine says, handing a few of the injector packs over. "We're close to midnight, here, everyone."

Humans, queue up for your voluntary application of Tsunami, a combat med requiring Heal-1 to administer. I have 7 and we can expend as many as needed. Priorities are Tristan and Sven, then Em and Antoine, then John.

TL;DR: +2 to hit rolls, 10 temp HP for 10 minutes.

"Mom always said not to do drugs," Sven says with a cheeky grin as he looks at the injector packs changing hands. He takes the second submachine gun from Tristan, shoving one of his spare magazines into it. Damn, now if this doesn't make me feel like a badass action hero. He hooks the guns into his belt, one on each side, and steps up to Em. "Hook me up with that good stuff, doc. Hope we won't need it, but safety first."

As the others claim most of the remainder of the equipment, Em grabs the last backpack and the unclaimed armor, quickly donning one before stuffing the rest into the bag. "Lots of leftover armor here if anyone needs it," she says, leaving the backpack unzipped in case anyone needs one. "Alright Sven first," she continues, as she takes the Tsunami from Antoine and pops it in Sven's arm in an appropriate vein. "Next," she says once he's done, before administering more to the each of the rest of the group who want one in turn, finally applying one to herself after everyone else who wants it.

OOC/Mechanics
Take the combat rifle and all of its magazines. Also take the remaining backpack and all four woven body armors, allowing anyone else to snag one if needed. 

Use up to 5 of the 7 Tsunami to inject Sven, Tristan, Antoine, John, and herself. If anyone does not want to use it, let me know. Jug is ineligible due to: robot. All who take it now apply the effects:

Antoine gasps as the shot of synthetic stimulants hits his bloodstream. Oh, that's quick. Burns, too. And soldiers do this shit on the reg? he wonders. Enough to make your brain turn to goo, I'd say.

"Alright," he manages, his breathing elevated. He can't help but notice his eyesight improving by the second as he reads one of the display cases from across the room. "Everybody ready to do this? John, where's your gun, man?" Antoine asks, turning toward the official.

"Shit," Sven mutters as he feels the stimulant burning through his bloodstream. He clenches his fist, pushing through the pain. His pupils dilate as a level of intense focus and raw power take hold. "Yeah, let's do this. Hope it's a clean killshot, but we're ready if it's not." Hell of a way to ring in the new year. Let's do some fucking shots after this.

Jug, hearing Antoine's comment, surveys the crew and confirms that John is the only one without a weapon. They take a step towards him, extending the Combat Shotgun towards him and opening the compartment with the spare shells. "Statement: If you require armament, please take this."

Sven frowns at John's request. And the dream's dead. Was fun while it lasted. He begrudgingly hands off the second SMG, finding it difficult to loosen his grip once John takes hold. He finally relents with gritted teeth. Maybe I can steal it back and he won't notice.

Antoine looks down at his Escriosian rifle, the instrument of death feeling clumsy and foreign in his hands. Might be good as a decoy. Last thing the Diktat needs to know is their 'terrorists' have a psionic angle.

"Once we hear the countdown, let's head in. Pull the trigger when the fireworks go off."

He heads toward the door, the last minutes weighing heavily on him. There's still time to run. I could be out of here before anything happens, before any more killing. The images of the slaughtered security guards come to him, the hole appearing in the back of the fleeing man's head. Antoine feels a lurch in his stomach. No. Too late for that. He disengages the safety on his rifle. I'm tired of running.

Seeing John pass then by, Jug closes the compartment and retracts the shotgun, checking it and the LMG, disengaging the safeties and storing them on easily accessible places on their frame.

"Statement: Timing confirmed." They say after Antoine.

Their body hisses with mounting pressure once more, a sound that Antoine, Sven, and John have heard before. "Weapons systems ready. Activating Combat Mode." They output, their chassis once again assuming a more relaxed, fluid posture.

"Just don't go all apeshit. Remember our target," Sven says as the hour approaches, not wanting any innocents caught in the fray. They might be rich assholes, but they're too drunk on champagne all the time to be a threat. He steels himself, readying the submachine gun for whatever comes next. Guess this is it.

With tsunami coursing through your veins and Escriosian steel in your hands, you head towards the balcony. As you do, the lights dim and you hear Vibol start the countdown chant, the crowd enthusiastically joining in. You move up to the railings, giving you a view of the crowd below.

Vibol is still on stage, accompanied by a tall man in an Escriosian dress uniform, easily recognisable from the newsfeeds as Ethan Alegre - a Kasi'mela local turned Escriosian soldier, who won recently won a slew of medals in the opening of the war on Antheus, and Vibol's latest propaganda star. Several more Escriosian soldiers and officers are visible in the crowd, while you can see a pair of what look like body guards on either side of the stage. The officers are clearly armed with their sidearms, while the enlisted rank and file privileged enough to be here appear unarmed.

The countdown reaches its end and Kasi'mela welcomes in the new year with a cacophony of sound. The cheer from the crowd, the bang of confetti canons, the distant thunderclap of fireworks outside, and the eruption of gunfire from the balcony as you open fire.

Each square is 2m x 2m, however this is just for reference, you are not fixed rigidly to the grid and each person takes up 1m x 1m.
Enemy Info
Tobias Vibol: The head of the propaganda arm of the Escriosian government in Davonia, and your target.

Bodyguard: Vibol's personal bodyguards. Likely to be undercover military or police, they are probably armed with concealed weapons, and it is likely they are wearing some form of protective armour, either secured suit jackets or something else underneath their outfits.

Ethan Alegre: Kasi'mela local turned Escriosian war hero turned propaganda star. He is dressed in a military dress uniform with a visible side arm.

Officer: Adorned in dress uniforms, complete with side arms and, in a couple of cases, ceremonial swords. None of them are immediately recognisable to you as any of the top brass of the occupation, however they are certainly not far from the top of the totem pole.

Soldier: Regular enlisted of the Esriosian military, with enough political or professional connections to be granted an invite to this prestigious event. They are unarmed and wear the dress uniforms of their respective branches.

Julian Lynwood: The museum's curator who purchased Jug from Em the previous day.

Deucias Madani: One of the men Tristan and Em spoke to on the museum veranda.

Kamal Madani: One of the men Tristan and Em spoke to on the museum veranda.

Crowd: The rest of the crowd is composed of civilians from Escriosian and Vaylan high society. They are unlikely to be any threat. Many are probably innocent, just born into wealth and privilege, while many are likely highly complicit in the oppression of the occupiers. As most of the crowd would attempt to hide or flee at the outbreak of combat, I will process their actions in one go at the end of each round.

Tristan lines up his shot, training the rifle in on Vibol. He silently counts down with the crowd, making micro-adjustments to his aim. Five... four... three... He slows his breathing down in time with the counting and realizes at the last moment that he needs to adjust his aim. One. He thinks, letting the shot go as everyone cheers.

"Targets Identified. Stabilizing firing platform. Target Lock Acquired."
A thought outputs as the countdown hits 3, seemingly unintentionally. "There are no heroes, in war. Firing." As Tristan's shot rings out, it is followed up by a burst of fire from the LMG.

Antoine watches wide-eyed as Vibol and Alegre hit the ground from a flurry of rounds, the muzzle flashes around him almost looking like fireworks to match the ones overhead. Taking aim of his own, he spies a smattering of officers. With a snap of his fingers, an invisible needle spirals through the air, toward one of them.

Before he can even see the result of his deeds, he turns to make a break for the doors to the south. "C'mon, we got him," he pleads with the others. We got him. And that war hero scumbag too. Good riddance.

Em watches with a large grin on her face as first Vibol, and then Alegre, are gunned down where they stand. She quickly fires a burst towards one of the bodyguards on the stage before fleeing south with the others. Mission complete, now just to get out alive. Hopefully that ends up being much easier than it looks.

The cheers of the crowd quickly turn to screams, as the single sniper shot from Tristan drops Vibol, quickly followed by the chatter of automatic weapons fire as the rest of you open up. Alegre and one of Vibol's body guards are cut down, but Jug, Sven and John's hail of bullets before they even have a chance to react. Antoine manages to wing one of the officers, while Em's frantic burst of fire misses her target, with one of the crowd catching a stray round.

While most of the room devolves into panic, three of the Escriosian officers react quickly. Drawing their sidearms, all three hop up onto the stage to get an angle on you as you flee the balcony. You feel the air grow warm around you, as it is superheated by the invisible lasers that shoot past you, which blackened scorch marks causing the paint to peel on the wall behind you.

As Tristan runs he quickly adjusts his grip on the sniper rifle, holding it closer to the middle. His main hand pulls out the revolver he pocketed earlier and continues running toward the entrance hall stairs. "Stay close-" He says, never pausing his movements.

Hopefully the crowd keeps them at bay long enough to get out, Em thinks, as she spots the military officers firing back from below. She runs after the others, aiming to stay as close to her co-conspirators as possible as they flee towards their getaway vehicle.

As Tristan, Antoine and Em reach the stairs in the lobby, they spot a terrified looking receptionist and Deucias, whose eyes go wide as he recognises Em having spoken to her earlier in the night before she donned body armour and a combat rifle. Meanwhile as people begin to run for cover, a couple of the soldiers are able to push through the crowd, making their way towards the stage where they grab the holstered weapons of Ethan Alegre and one of Vibol's bodyguards, arming themselves.

Vibol's remaining body guard takes a final shot at you as you flee the balcony, the mag pistol round whizzing over Jug's shoulder and splintering the wooden trim on the wall behind them. Another two officers run for the entrance hall, one stops to take cover behind the reception desk, gun at the ready, while the other seems to sprint straight for the exit, their weapon still holstered.

Many are probably innocent, just born into wealth and privilege, while many are likely highly complicit in the oppression of the occupiers. As most of the crowd would attempt to hide or flee at the outbreak of combat, I will process their actions in one go at the end of each round.

Incoming Fire. Taking Evasive Action.
Jug thunders around the corner and down the stairs, following the rest of the group. Upon reaching the door to the gift shop, they throw a free arm out to grab it and pull, slamming it closed behind them. "Breaking Line of Sight, Six o'Clock." They output, as they rush into the room.

As Jug joins you in the giftshop, kicking aside the doorstop and slamming the door shut behind them, you hear the sound of screaming joined by that of heavy footfall, as the crowd begins to surge towards the exit. Through the open door at the other end of the gift shop, you see those on the far sides of the hall from the doors chose instead to make a run for the exhibits and the pillars around the room, taking cover wherever they can.

Three panicked and wide eyed civilians even come running into the gift shop looking for a way out, only to scream more as they spot the five of you kitted out in combat armour and brandishing firearms, diving from cover behind the gift shop's shelves. Outside the door, through the noise of the crowd and the still playing celebratory music, you hear one of the soldiers by the pillar yell out to their comrades, clearly pointing towards your position.

Several of the officers who already fired at you from the stage respond, moving to fire through the doorway at Sven's exposed flank. Laser beams slice through the air around him, putting holes in the counter next to the blackmarketeer and singing his new armour, while one shot goes wide, cutting down a civilian out in the main hall as they try to run to safety.

All of the interior doors can be assumed to be propped open, to ease the movement of guests around the event, and can be closed or reopened if necessary with an on turn action. This excludes the red security doors, which require staff key cards for access and are closed, although with the exterior doors leading to the plaza and the courtyard.
Enemy Info
Tobias Vibol: The head of the propaganda arm of the Escriosian government in Davonia, and your target.

Bodyguard: Vibol's personal bodyguards. Likely to be undercover military or police, they are probably armed with concealed weapons, and it is likely they are wearing some form of protective armour, either secured suit jackets or something else underneath their outfits.

Ethan Alegre: Kasi'mela local turned Escriosian war hero turned propaganda star. He is dressed in a military dress uniform with a visible side arm.

Officer: Adorned in dress uniforms, complete with side arms and, in a couple of cases, ceremonial swords. None of them are immediately recognisable to you as any of the top brass of the occupation, however they are certainly not far from the top of the totem pole.

Soldier: Regular enlisted of the Esriosian military, with enough political or professional connections to be granted an invite to this prestigious event. They are unarmed and wear the dress uniforms of their respective branches.

Julian Lynwood: The museum's curator who purchased Jug from Em the previous day.
